RAOUL DUFY 1877-1953

This painterly kimono is reminiscent of Raoul Dufy’s style, with its colors and loose brush strokes. Dufy worked in the Impressionist, Fauvist, and Cubist styles, and was also a successful textile designer for Bianchini-Ferier, whose patterns were used by prestigious Parisian couturiers Poiret and Charvet.

Silk Kimono, Meisen technique, pre-1950, probably Taisho Era
